Foundling wheels in 1800

In the latter part of the nineteenth century there were some 1.200 wheels in Italy. They has been introduced not just in central homes for foundlings in the main towns or city of each province, but also in branch institutions: small temporary homes that would later send their foundlings on to the main home.
